Visiting Brazil and not trying a Caipirinha would be like visiting Ireland and not having a Guinness
Caipirinha Pronounced 'KIE-PUR-REEN-YAHS'
This fresh, exotic cocktail is becoming as hot among
international crowds as it is on beaches of Brazil. The traditional caipirinha
blends Cachaça, sugar cane, lime juice and ice.
How to make one:
1 lime
2 ounces of cachaça
Sugar to taste
Ice cubes
Wash the lime and roll it on the board to loosen the juices. Cut the lime into pieces and place them in a glass. Sprinkle with the sugar and crush the pieces (pulp side up) with a pestle. Just enough to release the juice, otherwise it'll get bitter. Add the cachaça and stir to mix. Add the ice and stir again. It is delicious and potent!
and provides ultimate satisfaction on a hot summer’s day. Brazilian knows it’s best to make them one at a time. So roll up your sleeves and start grinding.
Saude!
More about Cachaca:
Cachaca is Brazilian liquor made from distilled sugar cane juice. While rum is distilled from molasses, cachaca is
distilled directly from the juice of the unrefined sugar cane. Before distillation, the juice ferments in a
wood or copper container for three weeks, and is then boiled down three times to a concentrate. Cachaca is
always distilled in such a way that the scent of sugar cane and inimitable flavor typical of rum are retained.
